Race concludes with a red flag from an accident, but team gains valuable points

In round 3 of the 2023 SUPER GT, held at Suzuka Circuit on June 3rd and 4th, the race opened with clear and skies over the weekend, despite concerns of the impact of the typhoon.
Tsukakoshi took on Q1 and attacked the course seemingly unfettered by the 30kg success weight. He scored the 3rd fastest time overall, advancing to Q2. Matsushita took on Q2, who was unable to improve his time as he would have liked and finished the qualifying session in 8th position.
The final race was a lengthy 450 km (77 laps)  like the last race. Matsushita couldn't pass car #39 (DENSO KOBELCO SARD GR Supra)  and improve his position. On lap 29, the team switched drivers from Matsushita to Tsukakoshi. He gradually increased his pace and completed the second pit stop in 45 laps. Just as he was pushing hard to improve his position, a huge crash involving a GT500-class and a 300-class machine occurred on lap 59, bringing the race to a halt with a red-flag. Due to the time required to repair the course equipment, the race ended early.
Astemo REAL RACING finished in 9th place, gaining valuable points in the championship.
