Penske Racing driver Helio Castroneves, contracted by the Hitachi Groups,
takes second place in the eleventh race of the U.S. IndyCar series

Tokyo, July 7, 2014 --- Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. today announced that Helio Castroneves, a Hitachi contract driver with the Penske Racing team, sponsored by the Hitachi Group, including Hitachi Automotive Systems, came second in the eleventh race of the IndyCar series held at Long Pond, Pennsylvania on Sunday July 6th.

Castroneves started from the seventh position and steadily moved up through the field, finally finishing in second place. The winner was Penske Racing teammate Juan Pablo Montoya, who scored his first IndyCar win of the season, giving Penske Racing a one-two finish.

With the result, Castroneves held on to second place in the 2014 championship standings, still led by Penske Racing teammate Will Power, while Montoya moved up into fourth place.

Hitachi Automotive Systems will continue to use its sponsorship of motor sports, including IndyCar racing, to further grow the Hitachi brand and make a contribution to motor sports.
