Tokyo, January 14, 2015 --- Hitachi Automotive Systems Mexico, S.A. de C.V., a member of the Hitachi Automotive Systems group, today announced that they have received the "Foundry of the Year 2014" award from the Mexico Die Casting Association, which gives the award each year to a die-cast products supplier that has achieved exceptional growth.
Since it was established in 1979 Hitachi Automotive Systems Mexico has been supplying customers in North and South America with automotive products that utilize die-cast technology, starting with water and oil pump components. In 2014 Hitachi added new die-cast products that included balancers, electronic throttle bodies and oil control valves, leading to the company’s remarkable growth as a supplier of cast-products in Mexico that led to its selection as the recipient of the “Foundry of the Year” award for 2014.
Due to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Mercosur preferential trade agreements, Mexico has continued to develop as an automotive manufacturing and export base for Central and South America and other parts of the Americas. At the same time, the moves by automobile manufacturers to expand their production presence in the region are also spurring the expansion by automotive component suppliers to meet the local needs of the manufacturers.
With this increase in the importance of Mexico as a manufacturing base for the automobile industry, Hitachi Automotive Systems will continue to strengthen its business base and competitive advantages in the region by providing products that utilize its superior MONOZUKURI (manufacturing) capabilities, including in the area of casting technology.
