Strengthening Efforts against Global Warming

Tokyo, February 27, 2015 --- Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. today announced that they will be further strengthening their proactive efforts to prevent global warming, not only by reducing CO2 emissions through products, but also by globally promoting the reduction of greenhouse gases in factories, offices, transportation, and more.

The use of energy is essential not only for the mobility society Hitachi Automotive Systems is contributing to through providing products, but for all business activities. Because the CO2 generated through the use of energy is the main cause of global warming, aggressive efforts to reduce emissions are being sought on a global scale.

Hitachi Automotive Systems makes efforts aimed at products that contribute to the environment through ultra-low fuel consumption and makes efforts aimed at preventing global warming in regard to global business activities in two main pillars. The first pillar involves strengthening activities for improving energy and manufacturing efficiency as a product manufacturer and the second pillar involves strengthening activities which contribute to the reduction of CO2 through the new installation of new energy-saving systems and equipment, including medium- and long-term production facilities.

As a result of these efforts, in fiscal 2014, Hitachi Automotive Systems Chonburi, Ltd., a group company located in the Chonburi province of the Kingdom of Thailand (hereafter Thailand), received an award in the category of energy management from Prime Minister Prayut at the Thailand Department of Energy's "Thailand Energy Awards 2014." The award was received for significantly reducing energy consumption through the introduction of LED lighting, pump rotational speed inverters, multi-controllers for air compressors, and more.
