The 2020 INDYCAR SERIES to Kick Off on March 15
Hitachi-sponsored driver Josef Newgarden eyes
his third championship title

Tokyo, March 9, 2020 --- The Hitachi Group, including Hitachi Automotive Systems, partner Team Penske is once again slated to compete in the 2020 INDYCAR SERIES, which kicks off on March 15 in St. Petersburg, Florida. This season, Hitachi-sponsored driver Josef Newgarden will race full speed ahead in the No. 1 Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet with his eyes on his third championship since winning the 2017 and 2019 INDYCAR SERIES Championship titles.

The 2020 IndyCar series is comprised of 17 races, including five races on ovals, where impressive high-speed battles will ensue, and five races on temporary street circuits, where we can expect tense, close-quartered competition.
Beginning with the 2020 season, every vehicle in the INDYCAR SERIES will be equipped with an “Aeroscreen” - a new protective shield installed around the cockpit to protect the driver’s head. With this new Aeroscreen, we can anticipate heated battles with an improved emphasis on driver safety.

Hitachi is a primary sponsor for eight of the 17 INDYCAR SERIES races in the 2020 season, and the Hitachi logo will be prominently displayed on Josef Newgarden’s No. 1 Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet. It would be well worth it to watch Josef Newgarden and his driving techniques, as he aims to secure the 2020 championship title.

Moving forward, Hitachi Automotive Systems will continue to promote the Hitachi brand through its motorsports partnerships.
