Popular Chicane on Suzuka Circuit Renamed to “Hitachi Astemo Chicane”

Tokyo, March 30, 2021 --- Hitachi Astemo, Ltd. is excited to announce that the “Hitachi Automotive Systems Chicane” in the Suzuka International Racing Course (commonly known as “Suzuka Circuit”) in Mie Prefecture will be renamed to “Hitachi Astemo Chicane” effective March 30, 2021 in line with the company name change effective January 1, 2021. In 2014, Hitachi Astemo (Hitachi Automotive Systems at the time) entered into a naming rights partnership agreement for the chicane with Mobilityland Corporation, the operators of the Suzuka Circuit, a full-scale international racing course in Japan.

The Chicane is located after the longest straight and a high-speed corner earning it a reputation as a particularly challenging Section. The Chicane presents opportunities for takeovers as the race cars slow down and group up and has a history of many intense encounters. The Hitachi Astemo Chicane will continue to be an exciting part of the track to watch as the race unfolds.

Hitachi Astemo will continue to contribute to the promotion of motorsports through sponsorship both in Japan and overseas.
