FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tokyo, July 31, 2024 --- Hitachi Astemo, Ltd. (“Hitachi Astemo”) will open a technology development base that contributes to the evolution of mobility at the Shibuya Sakura Stage, a new large-scale complex next to Shibuya Station gaining prominence. The Shibuya office will be operational from April 2025 as a development base for Hitachi Astemo's cutting-edge technologies, enabling a more rapid response to SDV*1 evolution and contributing to the fast-transforming mobility industry.
Astemo has been building an organizational structure that facilitates integrated development—from systems to hardware and software—to respond more quickly and optimally to the diversifying areas of vehicle development. These areas include the global shift to EVs*2; E/E*3 architecture, which aims to realize greater efficiency of vehicle electronic systems that support advanced vehicle functions such as autonomous driving and driver assistance functions; and SDV, which enables the expansion of functionality and performance improvements through over-the-air software updates.
Drawing engineers and creators from diverse technical backgrounds, the new Shibuya office will develop technology for the future of mobility, which extends beyond traditional car manufacturing and includes software that supports SDV—strengthening our capabilities as a Tier 0.5 supplier.
The new office will be located in Shibuya Sakura Stage, a large-scale complex completed in November 2023 that is conveniently next to the new south exit of JR Shibuya Station. Based on the concept of an “open value creation base that promotes co-creation,” the open design and ABW (activity-based working) style floor design allows employees to proactively choose the space that best suits their activities. This includes individual concentration work as well as team discussion of ideas, thereby encouraging increased productivity and expanded creativity. The design is expected to facilitate technology development with greater speed and quality than ever before, and will further accelerate efforts that contribute to the evolution of mobility.
Hitachi Astemo will continue to work with its customers as a partner in transforming the future of mobility, contributing to the realization of a sustainable society and improved quality of life through providing advanced mobility solutions.
