Tokyo, February 20, 2025 -- Hitachi Astemo, Ltd. (hereafter “Astemo”) will change its company name to "Astemo, Ltd." effective April 1, 2025. Building on the accumulated achievements under the Hitachi name, Astemo aims to further strengthen the brand and become a leading company in electrification and intelligence of mobility in the SDV*1 age. To implement the change, a “partial amendment to the articles of incorporation” is scheduled to be submitted to the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in March 2025.
Since the management integration in January 2021, Astemo has established its position as a global mega-supplier that provides competitive mobility solutions in the CASE domain. In October 2023 its capital structure changed, with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. and Hitachi, Ltd. becoming equal shareholders, and JIC Capital, Ltd. becoming a new shareholder—shifting Astemo from a Hitachi consolidated subsidiary to an affiliate company.*2 These changes aimed to accelerate investment in advanced mobility, which includes electrification, advanced driver-assistance systems, autonomous driving and advanced chassis.
Building on the shift towards further growth, Astemo formulated its MISSION, VISION and VALUES,*3 which clearly define the company's reason to exist, its duties, ideal form, core values and decision-making criteria. This has enabled the company to share a common philosophy and values globally, and to promote its business more cohesively among all employees.
With changing the trade name of Astemo—derived from the first letters of the words "Advanced Sustainable Technologies for Mobility"*4 and embodying its intent "to provide a safe, sustainable, and comfortable mobility life through technologies that contribute to an advanced and sustainable society"—the company aims to leverage the strengths of every employee under its new MISSION, VISION and VALUES. And based on the spirit embodied in the Astemo name, the company will improve the quality of life for everyone through advanced mobility products and technologies.
In line with the company name change, the group company names will also change on or after April 1, 2025. In addition, the head office will be relocated on April 1, 2025, from Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture to Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, the location of the company's headquarters, further enhancing the internal management system.
With the new start as Astemo, Ltd., the company aims to make further advances as a global mega-supplier—becoming a leader in electrification and intelligence of mobility in the SDV age.
