Harrodsburg, Kentucky, USA, August 22, 2014 --- Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc., one of the Hitachi Automotive Systems’ group companies and regional headquarters of the company for the Americas, today announced that it has been recognized for its accomplishments in international business by receiving the prestigious Martha Layne Collins International Trade Excellence Award, presented by the World Trade Center Kentucky on August 21.
Named after the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s fifty-sixth Governor, this annual award distinguishes companies demonstrating outstanding success in international business. The Former Governor Collins was instrumental in attracting numerous Japanese automotive makers and parts suppliers to Kentucky in the mid 1980’s.
The prestigious award was based on our company’s achievements in international business and unique and important contributions to the local community through world trade. In addition to experiencing tremendous growth in Kentucky and other sites in the United States and Mexico, export sales accounts for a significant portion of our business. The Harrodsburg, KY facility is also designated as an International Free Trade Zone.
The award was presented at the World Trade Day event in Lexington, KY, which is the Commonwealth’s largest annual gathering of international trade professionals. On hand to receive the award was Kunihiko Ohnuma, Chairman and CEO of Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd.
