2019 Super Formula Season Begins as Hitachi Automotive Systems
Continues Promotional Partnership Agreement

Tokyo, March 29, 2019 --- The 2019 season of Super Formula Championship Series will commence from April 20, and Hitachi Automotive Systems will continue to be a promotional partner of the Series.

Since 2014, Hitachi Automotive Systems has had a promotional partnership agreement with Japan Race Promotion Inc., which manages the Super Formula Series, and Hitachi will continue its support in the 2019 season. All Super Formula cars taking part in the seven races of the season will sport the Hitachi logo in recognition of Hitachi Automotive Systems’ role as the event sponsor.

Super Formula cars boast similar cornering speeds to F1 cars, and with an increasing number of drivers experienced on the global stage, Super Formula has become a high-level racing event. For this reason, Super Formula is gaining the attention of worldwide motorsports industry. The 2018 season captivated motorsports fans and featured fierce battles in every race, with the battle for the championship remaining in the balance until the checkered flag was waved in the final race

The 2019 Series will see the introduction of a new model race car, the SF19, with a modified aerodynamic design that improves close-quarters racing performance. The new model car is expected to encourage more aggressive overtaking maneuvers than ever before. In addition, team line-ups are studded with talented drivers who have gained experience in Europe, as well as proven drivers who have an eye on F1, and the battles are expected to increase in intensity compared to last year’s season.

Moving forward, Hitachi Automotive Systems will continue to use its sponsorship of motorsports, including Super Formula, to further grow the Hitachi brand and contribute to the promotion of motorsports.
