Hitachi Astemo Korat Brake Systems in Thailand realizes solar power generation at its facility

Solar panels on the roof of Korat Plant #3

Tokyo, June 28, 2024 - Hitachi Astemo Korat Brake Systems Ltd.(“Hitachi Astemo Korat”), a group company of Hitachi Astemo, Ltd. (“Hitachi Astemo”) located in Nakhon Ratchasima province, northeast Thailand, has installed solar power generation equipment on the roof of Korat Plant #3. It is scheduled to be operational by the end of September.

Hitachi Astemo is promoting initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality in fiscal year 2030, with a roadmap to reduce CO2 emissions from factories and offices by 43% in FY2024 compared to FY2021, and by 77% in FY2027.

Hitachi Astemo Korat has introduced an off-balance sheet, solar power generation scheme in which the company does not own the solar power generation equipment installed at the plant, and instead pays for the electricity it consumes based on the amount it generates.

In line with this initiative, the solar panels will start by generating 1.45MW of electricity, and are expected to generate up to approximately 1,932 MWh per year in FY2025, aiming to reduce emissions by approximately1,000t-CO2 per year.

Hitachi Astemo contributes to reducing the environmental impact through the use of renewable energy, the ongoing promotion of energy conservation, as well as through the expansion of its electrified products and other businesses.
