Hitachi Astemo Bekasi Brake Systems
installed new solar power generation equipment

Solar panels on the roof of Bekasi Plant #2

Tokyo, October 31, 2024 – PT Hitachi Astemo Bekasi Brake Systems (hereafter “Astemo Bekasi Brake Systems”), a group company of Hitachi Astemo, Ltd. (hereafter “Astemo”) in Bekasi, West Java, Republic of Indonesia, installed solar power generation equipment on the roof of Bekasi Plant #2. The system started operations on 2 October 2024.

Astemo is promoting initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality in fiscal year 2030.

Astemo Bekasi Brake Systems has introduced an off-balance-sheet, solar power generation scheme in which the company does not own the solar power generation equipment installed at the plant. Instead, it pays for the electricity it consumes based on the amount generated.

In line with this initiative, Astemo Bekasi Brake Systems has installed 240 photovoltaic modules totaling 132 kilowatts of power. They are expected to generate up to approximately 165 MWh in FY2025, while aiming to reduce emissions by approximately 126 tons of CO2 per year.

“The installation of solar panels at our Bekasi plant will enable us to reduce the carbon footprint in all our processes to create a more sustainable society,” said Akira Hatori, site head of Astemo Bekasi Brake Systems.

Astemo contributes to reducing the environmental impact through the use of renewable energy, the ongoing promotion of energy conservation, as well as through the expansion of its electrified products and other businesses.
