History
1990

  • AInitiates mass production of Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS).
1991
  • Established Xanavi Informatics Corporation (on-board information system manufacturer) in a joint venture with Nissan.
1992
  • Nissan released the first electric passenger cars in Japan on the domestic market. Hitachi delivered motors and controllers for these electric cars.
1993
  • Acquired "ISO9001" certification of quality assurance stipulated by the International Standardization Organization.
  • Atsugi Unisia merges with Nihon Denshi Kiki Co., Ltd. to form Unisia Jecs Corporation.
1994
  • SIAM HITACHI AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS LTD. is established in Thailand in a joint venture with Siam Auto Parts Co., Ltd.
  • Established Hitachi Car Engineering Co., Ltd.
1995
  • Establishes Changsha Hitachi Automotive Products, Ltd. in Changsha, Hunan, China.
  • Hitachi Automotive Products (USA), Inc. was awarded QS9000 certification for the first time as an automotive transformer plant of Japanese origin.
1996
  • VICS service was commenced. Delivered on-road equipments and vehicle-mounted units for this service.
1997
  • Established UNISIA OF GEORGIA Corporation in Georgia, U.S.A.
  • Establishes Hitachi Automotive Products Europe, Ltd. in Bolton, UK.
  • Commences production of Direct Injection Gasoline System.
  • Acquired QS9000 certification for all the products.
  • Sawa Works acquired ISO14001 certification.
1998
  • Atsugi Works, Gunma Works (then Unisia Jecs Corporation), Unisia JKC Steering System - Akita Works, Unisia Kyushu, and Unisia Iwaki (dissolved in 2005) acquired ISO14001 certification (multiple-certification).
  • Commences production of Semi-Active Suspension Systems.
1999
  • Capitalizes 16.7 % of the stock of Unisia Jecs Corporation to strengthen collaborative development of ITS Drive Control Technology.
  • Yamanashi Works (then TOKICO, Ltd.) acquired ISO14001 certification.
  • Automotive Products Division was renamed Automotive Products.
